Okay, so you guys know Bear Vs. Shark right? Good. You love them, and you love Marc Paffi, who doesn't. So, after BVS broke up there were a few bands that were in the works, Champions of History, Cannons, Wildcatting, and now Bars of Gold, and we didn't hear much from the projects until Wildcatting came along. Apparently what happened, Champions of History turned into Bars of Gold, and members of Wildcatting joined them, and now we're here.
I don't much know how to describe Bars of Gold other than Marc Paffi goodness. It sounds like Bear Vs Shark if they would have kept evolving and playing around more with musical styles and bending genre constraints. Swaggery folk, post hardcore, garage rock, and others are represented and mixed together. I may still be lamenting never being able to see Bear Vs. Shark, but this may be the salve needed to heal the wounds.
